Joint IMO/ITU Experts Group

The Joint IMO/ITU Experts Group on Maritime Radiocommunication Matters has been established to develop the future requirements for maritime radiocommunications, taking into account the operational needs as defined by IMO and the regulatory needs as defined by ITU.

The Group meets, as required, intersessionally between meetings of the Sub-Committee on Safety of Navigation, Communication and Search and Rescue (NCSR). The Group reports to the NCSR Sub-Committee and, as appropriate, to meetings of the relevant Study Groups and/or Working Parties of ITU-R. The Group conducts its work on the basis of Terms of Reference agreed by the NCSR Sub-Committee and endorsed by the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC).
